What is an Arrhythmia?
An arrhythmia is an abnormal pattern of the heart beat.
- A normal heart will contract (beat) to pump blood at a constant pace. It will beat between 60 and 100 times per minute when at rest.
- With an arrhythmia, the heart may be beating too quickly (tachycardia), too slowly (bradycardia), or irregularly. This is due to irregular electrical activity in the heart.
